Winchester "Winnie"

Therapy Cat

Winchester "Winnie" is more than just a therapy cat-she’s a survivor with a heart full of compassion and a story worth sharing. Winnie's adventure began in the most unlikely of places: at just three weeks old, she was discovered trapped inside an HVAC air vent at Dr. Cygan’s mother’s school. It was a precarious situation for such a tiny kitten, but thanks to a daring rescue and the kindness of strangers, Winnie was given a second chance at life.

From that moment on, Winnie seemed to understand the power of care and connection. As she grew, she watched her mom (Dr. Cygan) dedicate herself to helping others, and Winnie decided to follow in her footsteps. Now, she brings her own gentle spirit to Cygan Psychological Services, offering comfort, emotional support, and a calming presence to everyone she meets.

Whether she’s curling up beside a kiddo or simply being a friendly face in the office, Winnie’s journey from rescue to therapy cat is a testament to resilience and the healing power of kindness.

If you would like Winnie to join your session, or if you have any questions about her role in our practice, please let us know-she’s always eager to share her warmth and love with others.

Graduate Training Site

Cygan Psychological Services is proud to serve as a designated training site for graduate-level clinical psychology students. We are specifically partnered with Mercer University-Atlanta’s Clinical Psychology Doctoral program to provide in-depth training opportunities for the next generation of clinicians.

As part of their educational and professional development, these doctoral students may be present during your child’s evaluation sessions and may administer psychological assessments under the direct supervision of Dr. Cygan. All interns are closely supervised to ensure the highest standards of care and confidentiality.

Clients can be assured that these students are well-trained and fully capable of administering assessment instruments. Each trainee has completed extensive coursework and practical preparation before participating in clinical activities, and they are highly dedicated to learning and honing their clinical skills in a supportive, professional environment.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding a student's involvement, you are welcome to discuss these with Dr. Cygan, at any time.
